Poems That Sing To You

Selected by Michael R. Strickland Published by Wordsong 1993 55 Pages Genre: Poems Summary: This book of poems are so fun. It teaches us different sounds and feels of poems. We start with Poems that dance. Each poem has a different kind of dance to it from a different country. We learn some from Russia, the boogie, and such. Next we have poems that have sound. These poems have a lot more rhyming sounds. Most of them are even about things that make sounds, like instruments and and parties! Next we have poems that make melodies. These are poems that could actually be songs. The book continues with poems that sing the happies and the blues, and poems that sing to you. These all have their own twists of rhyming or melodies. My Reaction: This was a really fun book to read. I could read the same poem over and over and make it different every time. Great interactive book. Potential Problems: None Recommendations: I think these could be used in a class with many students at once. These would make for fun short plays or group activities.
