Chester

by Melanie Watt
Scholastic 2007
32 Pages
Genre: Picture Book

Summary:
The book says that Melanie Watt wrote this book, but Chester says he wrote this book. As we start this book, we find a little mouse sitting in his home as the story begins. Then we see red marker all over the page. One drawing showing the mouse getting on a plane, and it reads that he was never seen again. Of course the mouse is apposed to this. This is his story. Through out the book Chester marks up all the pages with his red marker until he is allowed to have his own story. So he draws himself a world with his marker, after which it rains and is washed way. Eventually the mouse wins and is able to get back to his story.

My Reaction:
I love this book. It is so clever. Writing a book about a story that has been ruined. It was fun to get to know Chester even though he wasn't supposed to be in the story. I love the fights he causes, he always has such clever counters to the accusations that the mouse makes. This is a fun interactive book.
